It was the voice, first and foremost, that made him a viral star. As a teenager, he was working on a building site with his dad, who posted a TikTok with the caption: “POV: your apprentice can sing.” In the clip, Will, still clutching a power drill, is perched atop a ladder as he belts out a spine-tingling cover of Teddy Swims’ ‘Lose Control’.

Raised in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, the singer possesses an astonishing vocal that’s at once powerful and vulnerable; richly textured and so vast it’ll sweep you away. 

His debut single ‘Mindless State’, is a rallying cry for Will and those around him to realise their potential. Will’s gratitude for Scunthorpe, tempered with his knowledge of its limitations – course through his music as a solo artist. Music provided a reliable sense of place.

“The EP is just Scunthorpe, right?’ he reflects. “Whether it’s talking about my love for the place, the people there, family or my little brother. I’m really proud of it because every song captures Scunny in such a different way. For anyone from an industrial town or a small town – or just somewhere that ain’t a massive city where there are more opportunities – the chances for being seen are so slim. My story is just like anyone’s from a small town, whether it’s up north or down south.”
